Michael Phelps… Mission Accomplished….

Well Well Well…. As Expected, the American swimmer Michael Phelps has made a clean sweep of the 8 events he competed in. In the process, he “freestyled” past Mark Spitz’s record of 7 Gold medals in one edition of the Olympics by winning 8 Gold medals in 8 events he competed in.

What makes it all the more amazing is the fact that he won 7 of the events in World Record timings and the remaining one in an Olympic Record, that too, only by 1/100th of a second… that’s closer than a whisker.. 😀

The complete listing of the Gold medals is as follows:

  • 400m Individual Medley
  • 4x100m Freestyle Relay
  • 200m Freestyle
  • 200m Butterfly
  • 4x200m Freestyle Relay
  • 200m Individual Medley
  • 100m Butterfly
  • 4x100m Medley

Now, that’s smoking away the competition…

To take things into perspective, if Michael Phelps was representing himself alone as a nation, then he would have been ranked 10th most successful “nation”… 😮

Cheers to that….
