Close Encounters of the Smelly Kind

This is an entry for the Close Encounters of the Smelly Kind contest on IndiBlogger, sponsored by Racold. I liked the fact that the name of the contest was a play-on-words on the name of the 1977 award winning movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind“. So, my take was a hotchpotch of the two […]

Internet in Your Pocket

Gone are the days when a clunky desktop computer and a noisy 56k modem was needed to access the vast internet. Now anyone with a mobile phone cannot connect and instantly be connected to the internet. Be it Android apps for whatever you wish to do, watch videoes,  watch the latest IPL matches, check email, […]

Backus afterus hiatus….

I have been on a sorta hiatus since my last post. The world sure has changed to a large extent. 1) An octopus dethroned the mighty humans (and a wannabe parakeet too) to lay claim to be the title of “The Clairvoyant King” at the 2010 Football World Cup. 2) Shashi Tharoor transformed from this […]

Going Dutch??…

A few days ago, while clearing out my spam mail, I chanced upon this email. It was hidden in the midst of the hundreds of spam email found. It’s an offer too good to be true 😀 Apparently the family is hidden away in UK, and they chose me to channel their money from Holland […]

Whose Padma Shri Is It Anyway??…

It’s that time of the year when the Indian Government declares the list of Indian citizens who have made the cut for the Padma Awards. The 2010 list of Padma Awardees has opened the Pandora’s Box. The Indian Government webpage states that Padma Awards, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri are given for […]

The hoopla over IITs…..

Chanced upon this article online. It covers an article on the American structural biologist, who won the 2009 Nobel Prize for Chemistry. The ludicrous part of the article is this: In a society that glorifies the IIT-IIM culture, this doesn’t come as a surprise. My take is that if Mr. Venkataraman Ramakrishnan had gotten that […]

Resolutions for Year 2010

Well, it’s finally the New Year- 2010. It’s that time of the year when people get all sloshed out and then resolve to embark on Herculean tasks (by their standards) to be undertaken and/or accomplished during the year ahead. Yahoo! even has an article dedicated to it, with key inputs from “experts”…… I have a […]

The New Year Runneth Over….

It’s that time of the year again- when the restarants get costlier, pubs rake in the moolah and the planet Earth just gets a year older. NEW YEAR’s eve. Well, here’s wishing everyone A HAPPY NEW YEAR..!! Cheers !!

Times Of India- 28th December 2009

I chanced upon this article online. The student was “removed” from the school, not from the school rolls. Haven’t they heard of words like “expelled”, “rusticated”? Sheesh, doesn’t ToI hire people who have some basic knowledge of English?
